One of the most beloved “Love Island” couples has called it quits.
On Aug. 14, Molly-Mae Hague announced via her Instagram story that she and longtime love Tommy Fury, brother of boxer Tyson Fury, have broken up after five years together. Hague and Fury met on Season (or series, as they say across the pond) 5 of “Love Island UK,” which aired in 2019. The couple share a 1-year-old daughter and got engaged in July 2023.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this,” Hague, 25, began in her statement. “After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.”
Although the couple did not win Season 5 of “Love Island UK” — they came in second place to islanders Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea— they became one of fans’ favorite couples across all the “Love Island” franchises.
For the past five years, Hague and Fury, also 25, have continued to keep fans updated about the love story, including the birth of their daughter, Bambi, in January 2023.
Hague mentioned their baby girl in the breakup statement, writing, “I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.”
She then expressed her gratitude for the support fans have shown them throughout the years.
“You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all,” she added.
At the end of her statement, Hague asked for privacy as she navigates “this difficult time.”
Fury also shared a message on his Instagram story.
“I am heartbroken to share that Molly & I have decided to end our relationship,” he wrote. “The past 5 years have led to us having our beautiful girl, Bambi & I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority.”
The boxer asked for privacy as well.
Since they left the “Love Island UK” villa together, Hague and Fury have shared relationship milestones with their fans on social media.
In September 2022, they uploaded a joint video that included footage of Hague reading the love letter she penned for Fury during their season of the show.
“I can’t wait for the adventures that we haven’t even dreamed of yet,” she said at the time. The clip then cut to footage of Fury caressing and kissing her baby bump, confirming her pregnancy.
A month later, they found out they were expecting a daughter.
On Jan. 31, 2023, Hague announced the birth of their first child. She posted a photo of the newborn in her crib. “Bambi,” she wrote in the caption with a white heart emoji.
The first-time parents took another step in their relationship in July 2023 when Fury proposed.
They shared a joint post that showed them kissing while surrounded by roses as they held their daughter.
“To my perfect fiancé… forever wouldn’t be long enough to call you mine,” he said in the caption.
Hague uploaded a video that showed the moment he surprised her by going down on one knee.
“Forever. 23/07/23,” she said in the caption.
In July, Fury posted a family photo and referred to his former fiancée and his daughter as his “everything.”
A few weeks later, Hague celebrated the one-year anniversary of their engagement on July 23. She re-shared the proposal clip and said, “One year ago today I was tricked into going on a fake brand trip on which the love of my life would ask me to marry him.”
Following the post, Hague and Fury did not share any photos together before revealing their split.
