A few miscues down the stretch led to Los Angeles retaking the lead in the third quarter. Minshew and Zamir White both had crucial fumbles that resulted in points on the board for the AFC West rival. Daniel Carlson also missed a 49-yard field goal.
Stout through the majority of the game, the Raiders defense allowed its first touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard gain by J.K. Dobbins that gave the Chargers a 16-7 lead.
A few chunk plays brought the Raiders into scoring position and a 32-yard field goal from Carlson lessened the scoring gap to six. However, the Chargers rushing attack led by Dobbins put Los Angeles at the goal line. Herbert finished off the drive with a game-sealing 10-yard touchdown pass to rookie Ladd McConkey.
Minshew finished the day completing 75 percent of his passes for 257 yards and a touchdown. His leading target was Brock Bowers who finished with a game-high six receptions for 58 yards. The Raiders had three different players finish with 50+ receiving yards: Bowers, Jakobi Meyers and Davante Adams.
Las Vegas will look to bounce back from the loss next Sunday in another road matchup, traveling to the East Coast to play the Baltimore Ravens (0-1).
