Benchmark Nifty 50 and Sensex 30 were up nearly 4%, their best improvement in a single session in five years after crude prices had their first big decline on Wednesday (April 8, 2026).
The Nifty 50 and Sensex opened at 23855.15 and 77290.6 points, opening higher than 3% and continued the momentum for the better part of the day, closing at 23997 points and 77562.9 points. With this, the benchmark indices are inching closer to pre-war levels.
