The San Francisco 49ers today announced that the team has signed All-Pro WR Brandon Aiyuk to a four-year extension through the 2028 season.
“We were thrilled to draft Brandon in 2020 and are now equally excited to have him in the fold for years to come,” said President of Football Operations and General Manager John Lynch. “Brandon is a special talent who is a warrior on the field and plays with a passion that we look for in 49ers. We look forward to Brandon continuing to be part of what we strive to accomplish as an organization.”
Aiyuk (6-0, 200) was originally selected by the 49ers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Over the past four seasons (2020-23), he has appeared in 62 games (60 starts) and registered 269 receptions for 3,931 yards (14.6 average) and 25 touchdowns. He has also started in nine postseason contests and added 24 receptions for 393 yards (16.4 average) and one touchdown.
Aiyuk earned Associated Press Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2023. In 16 games (all starts), he tallied 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 yards (17.9 average) and seven touchdowns. His 1,342 yards ranked seventh in the NFL and marked his second-consecutive 1,000-yard season, making him the first 49ers wide receiver to register back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons since Anquan Boldin in the 2013-14 seasons. His 17.9 yards per reception was the second-highest mark in the NFL.
A 26-year-old native of Reno, NV, Aiyuk attended Arizona State University for two seasons (2018-19) where he appeared in 25 games and registered 98 receptions for 1,666 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a senior in 2019, he earned Third-Team All-America honors after appearing in 12 games and recording 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns. Aiyuk transferred to Arizona State after two seasons (2016-17) at Sierra (Rocklin, CA) College where he appeared in 20 games and recorded 89 receptions for 1,533 yards and 19 touchdowns.
