“There are some really great teams. The tournament is absolutely stacked. Seven other world-class teams. I truly believe the only team that can beat us is ourselves. As long as we take care of the little things, control ourselves, look after ourselves, we’ll be good come the end,” Warburton said.
ParalympicsGB was victorious on the women’s side of wheelchair basketball, as well. Great Britain won 69-34 over Spain, with Jade Atkin leading her team with 19 points in her Paralympic debut.
“It feels amazing. I feel such a good vibe. I’m so happy right now. It was such a good game to start with. I worked for this moment and here I am. I finally got here,” Atkin said after the win. “It’s amazing to have such experience with lots of athletes that all have the same mentality as you. We’re all here for a medal. We all need to work hard. It’s nice to have that in a togetherness environment.”
