FIR against JDS leader Suraj Revanna, brother of Prajwal Revanna, after man accuses him of sexual abuse

A case has been filed against Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna, the brother of sex crimes-accused former MP Prajwal Revanna, over alleged sexual assault.

A man filed the case against Suraj at Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district on Saturday, alleging that he was sexually assaulted by him at his farmhouse on June 16.

The complainant said that Suraj Revanna had invited him to his farmhouse and he forcefully kissed him and bit his lips and cheeks.

He alleged that Suraj further threatened to kill him if he didn’t cooperate.

“Suraj told me you’re alone in this farmhouse. You don’t know about me and our family. He threatened to kill me if I don’t cooperate.,” the man said in the complaint.

The man alleged that Suraj then sexually assaulted him, following which he told him that he would help him in growing politically in the district.

He said in the complaint that he had texted Suraj about the incident later, and Suraj had replied, “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.”

A case was registered under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code against Suraj.

Earlier on Saturday, Suraj Revanna and his acquaintance Shivakumar had filed a complaint alleging that they were being blackmailed by two people over a “false sexual assault allegation”.

Shivakumar had alleged that a man had initially befriended him and requested his help in securing a job, citing financial distress. Shivakumar agreed to introduce him to Suraj during the Lok Sabha elections.

On June 17, the man called Shivakumar, claiming he had visited Revanna’s farmhouse the previous day to ask for a job but was turned down.

He then allegedly threatened to defame Revanna and his family, stating that he would file a police complaint alleging sexual molestation if his demand for Rs 5 crore was not met.

This development comes just days after former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was remanded to judicial custody by a special court in Bengaluru.

Prajwal, who was the NDA Lok Sabha candidate from Hassan, fled the country on April 27 after several videos allegedly showing him sexually harassing multiple women emerged. He was arrested by SIT officials upon his return from Germany on May 31.

Notably, Prajwal’s mother, Bhavani Revanna, was arrested in a kidnapping case linked to a sexual harassment case, while his father, HD Revanna, was arrested in connection with two cases: kidnapping and sexual assault.
