TRICHY: Upset that actor and TVK president Vijay did not make it to Karur ‘as promised’ and the party instead took their estranged family members to meet him in Chennai, the family of Ramesh, one of the 41 victims of the stampede, has returned the Rs20 lakh relief extended by the party.Angered by TVK members taking Ramesh’s sister and her family members, with whom his wife and father claimed to have no connection, to meet Vijay, the family returned the money through a bank transaction on Monday.
“His sister’s family were taken by TVK misusing our name. My husband died because he went to the meeting to see Vijay, and I expected him to offer me condolences in person,” M Sangavi said. She said she had transferred the money mentioning it as an ‘unknown transaction’.In all, families of 37 victims had gone to Chennai to meet Vijay. Among the three which didn’t go, the families of Vadivel and Ajitha cited the 30th day ritual, while Prahik’s family said they did not go because of health problems.
