ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1227 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, October 28th

This late autumnal heat surge is finally over, as temperatures dive into the low 40s and we all rush to unpack our winter things. Snow is coming and I’m feeling like somewhere in my life I should have made a decision to live on a beach in the tropics instead of one of the snowiest cities in the lower 48 states.

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Shirt-adjacent.

The Clue: This Wordle begins and ends with a consonant.

Okay, spoilers below!

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

Things started off poorly with SPIRE. I had 156 words remaining (it could be much worse!) and just one yellow box (it could be much better). ADMIN shuffled things around and cut that number to just 8. I guessed TUNIC because I always liked tunics, which I viewed as a youngster as an essential piece of Medieval apparel. Knights wore tunics! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get one point for guessing in 3 and zero points for tying the Wordle Bot. I’ll take a point after many days of nothing!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word tunic comes from the Latin tunica, a common garment in Ancient Rome. Its origin likely traces back to Greek thynakē, a type of linen clothing. The term entered English through Old French in the Middle Ages and has since evolved to refer to a loose, long top worn across various cultures.
