BYU Football plays its first away game in conference play on Saturday morning, against the Baylor Bears in Waco, TX.
The BYU Cougars (4-0) find themselves at 22 in the AP Top 25 Poll this week, after being unranked. This jump can be accredited to the Cougars winning performance a week ago against Kansas State. The Cougars beat the (then ranked no. 13, now ranked no. 23) Kansas State Wildcats by a score of 38-9 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.
Baylor is 2-2 on the season, and suffered a gut-wrenching loss in its first official conference game. The Bears visited Colorado and lost by 38-31 in overtime. The Bears beat Air Force the week prior, and lost at Utah (the continuation of a series and not an official conference game) the week before that.
Saturday will be BYU and Baylor’s fifth time meeting, but the first time as conference opponents. The Cougars won the last game, played in 2022. The series is tied at 2-2.
