Carson Beck showed impressive resolve against Alabama, nearly leading a historic comeback before suffering a 41-34 loss, but his early struggles led to plenty of criticism.
The Georgia Bulldogs quarterback went 8-of-17 for 98 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions as his team fell into a 30-7 hole following the first 30 minutes.
He eventually rallied before finishing with 439 passing yards and three touchdowns to go with three interceptions. However, there is a high bar for a player who has been ranked as a consensus top quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has him as the No. 2 quarterback while ESPN’s Field Yates rates him as the top quarterback.
Fans on social media pushed back on that rating and called him overrated.

Others were still hopeful in what Beck could show after the rough start:
Georgia certainly put the ball in Beck’s hands in the second half, giving him every opportunity to overcome the slow start. He did enough to give the Bulldogs the lead with some clutch fourth-quarter throws:

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough against an elite opponent and it could create some hesitation about Beck’s draft stock going forward.
