A 30-year-old female factory worker at an electronics manufacturing plant in Thailand passed away. According to a report by Bangkok Post, her death occurred after her manager denied additional sick leave. May, an employee at an electronics plant owned by Delta Electronics Thailand in Samut Prakan province, was reportedly hospitalised for four days due to an inflamed large intestine.
The report noted that she had to return to work in fear of losing her job, even though she was still unwell after being discharged.
Earlier this month, May reportedly requested another sick day, but her manager insisted she come to work and submit another medical certificate. As per the report, May joined back for duty the next day, only to collapse after 20 minutes. She underwent emergency surgery but succumbed to necrotising enterocolitis the same day.
