NEW DELHI: A six-year-old girl was recently sexually assaulted, allegedly by three boys — aged between nine and 16 years — in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura.A case was registered under Pocso Act and two of the boys were apprehended. The eldest one reportedly fled to Bihar. Police are looking for him.
The survivor’s family and neighbours are said to have blocked a road on Monday in protest against the incident that had taken place in the evening of Jan 18. Police sources said the boys, who are neighbours, used to play with the girl near her house. She was returning home from her aunt’s house at 7 pm when they allegedly lured her, a relative of hers said, adding that the sexual assault took place on a nearby terrace. When the survivor came back home, she was bleeding and her clothes were stained with blood, her mother said. Her family took her to a police station and then to hospital. She is currently stable. The relative claimed that the mother of one of the boys paid the girl a visit and said she stood by her, before voluntarily handing her son over to the cops.
