LUCKNOW: A man brutally assaulted his wife and then, in a fit of rage, threw his two-year-old son to the ground, resulting in the child’s death in Bangarmau on Saturday. Police arrested the accused and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
According to complaint filed by Nagma Bano, resident of Darapur village, her husband, Sharoon, is addicted to alcohol and frequently gets violent after drinking.
“On Saturday evening, he returned home under the influence of alcohol and began assaulting her after an argument. When she protested, Sharoon snatched their two-year-old son, Azaan, from her arms and threw him violently to the ground. The impact was fatal and the child died instantly,” she said.
On receiving the call at UP 112, police reached the scene and took possession of the child’s body, sending it for autopsy.
Neighbours restrained Sharoon until police took him into custody. Neighbours reported that Sharoon’s violent behaviour was a common occurrence after drinking.
SHO, Bangarmau, Rajesh Pathak, said a detailed investigation was underway and the accused, who worked as a driver, was arrested.
