The U.S. government recently announced that Americans can once again request four free COVID-19 tests.
Any U.S. household can order four free COVID-19 tests on the United States Postal Service webpage specifically designated for the test kits.
The tests along with shipping to households are free starting Sept. 30, according to the U.S. Postal Service.
The federal government noted on Covidtests.gov that some COVID-19 test expiration dates are extended so they are still good to use after the expiration date printed on the boxes.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has provided a list of COVID-19 test kit expiration dates for reference.
These rapid antigen tests, which are not PCR tests, provide results in 30 minutes without having to bring them to a lab.
The website encourages people who take the tests to report the results to public health agencies here.
