If you’ve been on Facebook recently, you likely noticed an abundance of posts dedicated to daughters in honor of National Daughters Day on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Now it’s time to hear it for the boys.
Saturday, Sept. 28, is National Sons Day. However, if you think we’ve already done that, you’re right! National Sons Day comes around twice a year, the first time is in March.
Why the double dip? Here’s what to know.
Why are there two National Sons Days?
The first National Sons Day occurs on March 4 each year. According to The Economic Times, Jill Nico designated the March day as National Sons Day in 2018 as a way to encourage meaningful conversations between parents and sons.
Some blame social media for the doubled-up, quasi-holiday, as the two dates came about in the age of the influencers, some of whom chose March to celebrate while others chose September. NationalToday.com also designates both dates as National Sons Day. So whichever day you choose to celebrate, make sure to pour one out for your son(s) sometime this year.
Sept. 25 is the only National Daughters Day.
