ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The City of Asheville announced it is issuing a boil-water advisory as the Water Resources Department works to restore water to customers experiencing outages.
Water consumers in Buncombe County are experiencing low pressure periods or outages. Officials warn that these periods increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Officials have issued a boil-water advisory in response to the bacterial threat for all customers with restored power. Anyone without power is asked to use bottled water for all activities involving human consumption.
Officials recommend that customers with water currently should fill bathtubs in case water pressure is lost.
Officials report the boil-water advisory will remain in effect until customers are notified otherwise.
