Tom Aspinall is ready to fight Jon Jones.
After retaining the interim heavyweight title on Sunday against Curtis Blaydes, Aspinall called out Jones, who currently holds the UFC heavyweight title.
“Hello Jon. I have nothing against you personally, but I just think I’m better than you,” Aspinall said. “I just know that I can beat you in a fight. So I’m coming for it.”
Aspinall’s message to Jones comes just days after UFC president Dana White said the winner of Saturday’s fight between Aspinall and Blaydes at UFC 304 will face the winner of the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Jones and former champion Stipe Miocic.
While a fight between Jones and Miocic has not been set up just yet, Aspinall is ready to go ahead and take on Jones and challenge him for his title.
And Aspinall made a strong case that he can win it on Saturday. The 31-year-old downed Blaydes in the first round via TKO, needing just one minute in the ring to defend his title.
Aspinall’s win against Blaydes on Saturday also avenged his only loss in UFC, which came against Blaydes at UFC Fight Night in 2022.
Aspinall proved that he’s here to stay after a dominant win against Blaydes, but now he’ll look to go up against one of the best and take down Jones.
