Chappell Roan confronted a photographer who she said was rude to her and demanded an apology during a recent red carpet appearance.
While posing for photos ahead of the film premiere of Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour on Friday night, Roan spotted a photographer with whom she apparently had an unfriendly interaction in the past. In between poses, Roan pointed directly at the photographer and walked right up to them saying, “You were so disrespectful to me at the Grammys.”
Footage from the red carpet showed Roan approaching the group of photographers, pointing her finger at the one who had previously offended her. In the video, Roan can be heard continuing: “You yelled at me at the Grammy party. Yes, I remember. You were so rude to me. And I deserve an apology for that. You need to apologize to me.”
Before Roan could continue further, she was shown being guided back to the carpet, according to other videos.
This isn’t the first time the “Casual” singer has had choice words with photographers at a major event. Roan famously clapped back at one paprazzi ahead of the 2024 VMAs in September. Before making her award show performance debut, Roan put a photographer in his place after he yelled “shut the f*ck up” at her. In footage from the red carpet moment, Roan can be seen immediately whirling around, pointing her finger at the photographer, and yelling “No, you shut the f*ck up. Not me, bitch.”
Shortly after the clip went viral, Roan explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that a lot of her new experiences with fame have been “quite overwhelming and quite scary.”
“For someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying, and I yelled back,” she continued.
Chappell Roan joined Olivia Rodrigo for the premiere after Roan was featured as an opener for the artist’s SOUR tour and during some of the GUTS tour dates. During Rodrigo’s concert in Los Angeles in August, she brought out Roan as a surprise guest to perform the latter’s hit, “Hot To Go.”
“I absolutely adore her,” Rodrigo said on stage. “I think she is one of the most singular, inspiring, powerful artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.”
