
INDORE: A shocking incident was reported from Aali village under Kukshi police station limits on Friday morning, where a four-and-a-half-year-old boy was brutally hacked to death inside his house.The assailant, identified as 24-year-old Mahesh Mayra of Jobat, attacked the child with a sharp-edged weapon, nearly severing his body into two parts. When the boy’s mother tried to save him, she also sustained injuries.As Mahesh attempted to flee, villagers confronted him and snatched the weapon from his hands. When he continued to behave violently, they tied him up and assaulted him. He was later rushed to the hospital by police, where he succumbed to his injuries. “A man believed to be mentally unstable suddenly entered the house and sat on a cot. He kept sitting there for a while and did not talk to anyone. When questioned about his presence, he suddenly picked up a faliya (a sickle-shaped traditional tribal weapon) and attacked the child multiple times. When his mother tried to stop him, she was also attacked. As he attempted to flee with the weapon in his hands, villagers tried to catch him and he was injured in the accident. Police arrived soon after being alerted and rushed him to the hospital, where he later died during treatment,” said SP Mayank Avasthi.

Avasthi said, “The villagers said that the man was getting uncontrolled and was attempting to attack people when he was tied up by them. Officials rushed him to the hospital but he succumbed during treatment. Since he died in police custody, senior officials were informed and a judicial probe has been ordered. His autopsy was carried out by a panel of doctors,” said Avasthi.“The man, a resident of Jobat in Alirajpur, was missing from his home for the past few days. His motorcycle was also seized. Police said that based on the postmortem report, if it is confirmed that he was assaulted, those involved in the beating will face an FIR. The incident created tension in the area, prompting deployment of additional police force,” he added.Police said the incident occurred around 10:30 am in Dhoolbahedi locality, about seven kilometres from Kukshi. Vikas was playing in the courtyard while his mother, Sona Bai, was engaged in household chores. His father, Kalu Singh, left earlier for farm work. Without warning, Mahesh arrived on a motorcycle, entered the house, and attacked the boy.A single blow to the head and neck proved fatal, leaving the child decapitated. The sudden violence left the mother helpless. As she tried to save her son, Mahesh turned on her, inflicting injuries on her shoulder and hand. Her screams drew nearby villagers, forcing the attacker to flee. By the time people rushed in, the boy was dead and the accused disappeared from the spot.Sona Bai later told police that the accused was circling the village on his motorcycle since morning, though no one suspected his intentions.
