Country icon Shania Twain sparkled in a glittery dark denim halter gown, as she walked down the red carpet of the second annual People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday in Nashville. The show-stopping, fitted mermaid-style dress featured a ‘70s-style dagger collar and a subtle sweep train, with rhinestones that were heavier on the top and bottom of the dress.
The bedazzled gown was custom-designed with Levi’s, with creative input from Twain herself. Twain was inspired by the men in her grandparents’ country music who wore crystal and bejeweled pants.
Twain wore long elbow gloves that were also embroidered with rhinestones and had sparkly cuffs that matched her collar. She also added a large diamond ring over the pinky of her glove. She wore her hair in a ‘60s retro blond shoulder-length bob.
At the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards in December 2022, the five-time Grammy winner received the People’s Music Icon Award. This year, she’s nominated for best “Concert Tour of 2024” for her Vegas show, “Shania Twain: Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits!”
Her third show on the Las Vegas Strip began in May of this year at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and runs through February 2025. Her fellow nominees are Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Zach Bryan.
Zach Bryan leads this year’s nominees with 19 nominations, followed by Beyoncé with 17 nominations. Beyoncé’s 17 nominations are notable, considering she didn’t receive any nominations for the 2024 Country Music Awards, which will take place in November.
Earlier this year, Twain, who is the top-selling female country artist of all-time, became a Barbie doll. Celebrating International Women’s Day, Mattel chose Twain as one of eight one-of-a-kind “role model” dolls based on famous faces from around the globe.
The second annual People’s Choice Country Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, are hosted by singer Shania Twain. Miranda Lambert will receive the honorary Country Icon Award, while performers include Kane Brown, Keith Urban and Lady A. The show will be broadcast live on NBC with an option to stream on Peacock.
