Queens of the Stone Age have officially cleared the entirety of its tour calendar for the remainder of 2024, canceling some appearances as postponing others. The band has provided limited information on the cause behind this move apart from the detail that founding frontman Josh Homme was forced to “prioritize his health” over previous commitments. This news follows the band’s cancellation of an eight-stop European festival run in July, which it attributed to the bandleader’s need for an urgent return to the United States for emergency surgery.

“QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows,” the band shared in a release to its social channels. “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year.”

A total of eight U.S. live appearances are affected by this change, which were scheduled to fall between Sept. 27 and Nov. 17. The band’s five headline dates–set for Sept. 27 and 28 at Boston’s MGM Music Hall, Oct. 1 at Cincinnati’s Andrew J. Brady Music Center, Oct. 2 at Chicago’s Huntington Bank Pavillion and Oct. 4 at Madison, Wis.’s Breese Stevens Field–will be postponed until 2025, with more info on rescheduled dates to arrive in the future.

Queens of the Stone Age were also booked to deliver high-bill sets at Bridgeport, Conn.’s Soundside Music Festival on Sept. 29, Memphis, Tenn.’s Mempho Music Festival on Oct. 6 and Mexico City’s Corona Capital Festival on Nov. 17. Mempho alone has already announced a replacement act, with Jack White set to stand in as the festival’s day three headliner; White’s addition follows his replacement of QOTSA at a number of the band’s canceled European festival bookings and well suits his recent impromptu, low-profile tour. New lineup additions for Soundside and Corona Capital will be announced soon.

“Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time that we were able to spend together over the past year,” the band shared in closing. “Hope to see you all again in 2025.”
