The United States looks to continue a quarter century of dominance this week as it takes on the Internationals at the 2024 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne in Canada. While the Americans have hoisted nine straight trophies at this event, the International side has yet to claim a Presidents Cup for itself since 1998. Whether there will be a change of course this week depends entirely on how a younger U.S. team performs against a more experienced host that should have fan sentiment on its side.

The U.S. boasts Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, the top two players in the world at the conclusion of the 2024 season. While Schauffele has been strong at the Presidents Cup with a 6-3-0 overall record, Scheffler (0-3-1) has struggled markedly in the team competition. The Americans will also enter Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, Brian Harman and Russell Henley as first-timers along with Max Homa, who has struggled this season but is undefeated (4-0-0) in the Presidents Cup.

Adam Scott leads the International team playing his 11th Presidents Cup with an all-time record of 18-25-6. Only Sungjae Im (5-3-2) and Si Woo Kim (4-3-0) have winning marks entering this competition with one more than one Presidents Cup appearance to their name, while Mackenzie Hughes and Min Woo Lee are suiting up for the first time.

No matter how it shakes out at Royal Melbourne, this Presidents Cup is going to be a whole lot of fun. International team competitions normally have rowdy crowds, and there’s no reason to expect anything different this year in Canada.

CBS Sports has taken an in-depth look at this weekend’s international event with a full list of the 2024 Presidents Cup teams, Kyle Porter diving into the best storylines entering Royal Melbourne and a breakdown of the Presidents Cup format and rules.
