Rev. Canon Katie Pearson to lead services at All Saints Sept. 1 and 8

2024-08-26 04:10:02

The Rev. Canon Katie Pearson will be returning to the All Saints by-the-Sea community for the first two Sundays in September. She comes to us from Denver, Colorado and will lead the service of Holy Communion at 8 and 10 a.m. both Sundays.  Organ music will be provided by our accomplished organist, Mr. Henry Lowe at all services. A time for fellowship and coffee on the chapel grounds will follow each of the 10:00AM services. People of all faiths are invited to attend.

As Canon Pastor of St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, Rev. Pearson leads the cathedral, following the direction of the Dean, as a pastor, a priest, and a teacher.  Among her many ministerial responsibilities are Christian formation, lay leadership and pastoral care ministries. Her Master of Divinity degree was earned from the Iliff School of Theology and her diploma of Anglican Studies is from Sewanee’s School of Theology. Prior to ordination, Katie was a high school English teacher, an engaged volunteer, and an active lay leader. She brings a wealth of experiences to her ministry as her family has lived overseas, in the Southeast, the Upper Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic, and now the Rocky Mountains. She and her husband, Don, have three adult children.

An informal discussion relating to the week’s scripture passages will be led by Rev. Pearson on the outside porch of the chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 9 to 10 a.m. Attendees of All Saints as well as members of other area church are encouraged to attend.

All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about 2 miles on the left driving south on Route 238. An Episcopal Church sign marks the side of the road.  Parking is available along Route 238, or if necessary, in the limited number of handicapped parking spaces off All Saints Road.  A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the church steps. The chapel dock is now available for those wishing to arrive by boat. Although the worship season will conclude on Sept. 8, the historic wood chapel will be open for quiet prayer and meditation until mid-October.
