DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — A woman is in custody and a child is with police more than 12 hours after an AMBER Alert in Durham.
The AMBER Alert for 9-year-old Geon King remains active, but Durham Police Department confirmed to ABC11 that the child has been located and is safe. The AMBER Alert will be cancelled once investigators can put together a formal update.
ABC11 crews were following along with Durham Police Department as they honed in on Mariah King, who was suspected of abducting her biological son of whom she does not have custody.
Chopper 11 saw a handful of police cruisers swarm a home along Roxboro Street. They pulled the woman and the child from a silver truck in the driveway of the home.
The woman was taken away in handcuffs. Police then took the child to the side; officers are working to reunite him with his family.
Stay with ABC11 as we learn more details about this breaking story.
