2024-10-25 22:40:04

Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds and another man were injured in a shooting last week after two vehicles followed them from a Glendale, Colorado, gentlemen’s club, documents state.

Two men, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza, were arrested in the Oct. 18 shooting, according to NBC affiliate KUSA of Denver, citing police.

Shortly before 3 a.m., police received 911 calls about a shooting near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street, KUSA reported. One caller said he was driving and had been shot, according to court documents obtained by KUSA.

A second caller said he was being followed and that two of his friends had been shot, the documents state. A third caller said they had been shot at, according to the court documents.

Police were able to find the victims by using GPS tracking.

Reynolds was allegedly shot twice, once in his arm and once in the back of his head, KUSA reported. The second man was shot in his back and a third was injured by shattered glass.

The victims said they were at Shotgun Willies, a gentlemen’s club in Glendale, and that two vehicles began following them after they left around 2:45 a.m., KUSA reported. They said there were no issues at the club while they were there.

According to the victims, the two vehicles continued to trail them on the highway. At one point, four vehicles were allegedly following the car Reynolds was in, according to the news station.

Video at the club allegedly showed Mendoza watching the victims. Several vehicles were seen entering the club’s parking lot and appearing to wait for the group to leave, KUSA reported.

Charlesworth, 42, allegedly denied shooting at the victims, telling investigators that he was helping a friend who had asked him to follow the group, according to KUSA.

Charlesworth and Mendoza, 35, both face charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. An attorney for Charlesworth did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Attorney information for Mendoza was not available.

The Broncos said in a statement to NBC News on Friday that Reynolds, 29, “was a victim of a shooting” and “received treatment for minor injuries.”

“Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities,” the team said.

An agent for Reynolds could not immediately be reached. The wide receiver was already on four-week injured reserve prior to the shooting.
