Chargers-Steelers Snap Counts: Derwin James played every snap vs. PIT

As always, here are this week’s snap counts from Chargers-Steleers.

Here’s our analysis.

Offense

Despite leaving the game with an injury, Joe Alt still played 100 percent of the snaps on offense. He was joined by Zion Johnson and Bradley Bozeman to play every snap. Trey Pipkins, who was forced to switch to left tackle following Rashawn Slater’s injury, played all but one snap. Jamaree Salyer, who made his season debut at right guard, played 17 snaps.

For the first time this season, Simi Fehoko played just as many snaps as Ladd McConkey with both logging 33. Quentin Johnston led the way with 37.

J.K. Dobbins led the backfield once again with 30 snaps to Edwards’ 16.

Hayden Hurst led the tight ends with 28 snaps to Will Dissly’s 23.

Defense

Surprisingly, five different Chargers defenders played 100 percent of the snaps against the Steelers. Essentially, it was the entire secondary plus linebacker Daiyan Henley. With Junior Colson out, Troy Dye did receive eight snaps, but those were taken from Denzel Perryman. Henley was an ironman out there for a unit that did not get many breaks.

With Joey Bosa out almost immediately, Bud Dupree logged the third most snaps of edge rushers with 41. Mack led the way with 51 while Tuli Tuipulotu logged 48.

Elijah Molden, with Alohi Gilman back in the lineup, still saw 32 snaps.

Poona Ford (47) and Morgan Fox (38) led all interior defensive linemen with Otito Ogbonnia earning 30.

Teair Tart, a player many fans were excited to add to the team, saw just 12. After three games, it does not look like his snap count is increasing from week-to-week.

Special Teams

The entire core of the Chargers special teams unit got a lot of work against the Steelers, especially the punt coverage team. The Chargers went three-and-out five times among their nine total drives. In all, the punted seven times and kicked just one field goal.
