Apple is planning to announce its latest iPhone models and other new devices at an event on September 10, according to a report from Bloomberg. The Cupertino giant is expected to introduce the iPhone 16 lineup along with updated Apple Watches and AirPods.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, citing sources familiar with the matter, reports that Apple is preparing for a September 10 launch event, though the company has not yet officially announced the date. The new devices are likely to go on sale starting September 20, in line with Apple’s typical release schedule.
The iPhone 16 series is anticipated to feature a new “Capture Button” on the side of the device, designed for taking photos and videos. While the overall design is expected to be similar to the iPhone 15 models, the Pro versions may sport larger displays, measuring approximately 6.3 and 6.9 inches diagonally for the Pro and Pro Max respectively.
Gurman notes that Apple will emphasise the AI capabilities of the new iPhones, powered by the A18 chip. This processor is said to offer enhanced performance to support Apple’s new “Intelligence” features.
The event is also expected to showcase the Apple Watch Series 10, which may feature larger displays and thinner cases compared to previous models. Additionally, Apple plans to introduce two new versions of its entry-level AirPods, with one model reportedly including noise cancellation for the first time in the standard AirPods line.
The September 10 date aligns with Apple’s usual pattern of holding its fall event on the second Tuesday of September. Official media invitations are expected to be sent out in the coming week.
While not slated for the September event, Apple is also ramping up internal testing of new Mac computers featuring M4 chips, according to Gurman’s report.
