WWE star Cody Rhodes saw a striking resemblance when Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow unveiled his new look.
The 2022 Pro Bowler is now sporting a blonde buzz cut as he prepares for the upcoming NFL season.
Rhodes had some fun by sharing an altered photo of Burrow with his signature neck tattoo and the undisputed WWE title belt, telling the signal-caller it’s “time to finish your story.”
“Finish the story” was Rhodes’ rallying cry during his pursuit of WWE gold. His father Dusty was a decorated world champion in other wrestling promotions, but the WWE title eluded him during his illustrious career.
“The American Nightmare” completed his journey when he beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL in April.
Narratively speaking, Burrow leading the Bengals to their first championship would be an equally fulfilling long-term arc. One of the most moribund franchises in NFL history finally reaching the promised land with a quarterback who grew up just hours away.
The NFL even has its own version of Reigns, whose title reign lasted 1,316 days, with the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. Nobody casts a larger shadow over the league than the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, and all roads go through Kansas City until proven otherwise.
Of course, the beauty with WWE is that you can craft the story however you want. The underdogs don’t always win in the NFL.
