The Miami Dolphins hit the road to travel to Seattle for a Week 3 matchup in a hostile environment. Coming off a loss to the Buffalo Bills on a Week 2 Thursday Night Football game, starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game with a concussion and eventually landed on injured reserve. Backup Skylar Thompson took over, and will start for Miami against the Seahawks.
Thompson has started two regular season games for Miami and has gone 1-1, while also losing a 2022 playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. While playing admirably for a seventh-round rookie in that postseason contest, the Dolphins fell short, 31-34. With Tagovailoa out for at least four games, Thompson looks for a new beginning, and that starts Sunday in Seattle.
If you’re looking to get in on the action this week with some player prop bets, we’ve got you covered with a handful of wagers to make on the Dolphins. The following prop bets are available on BetMGM, with the listed odds last updated at the time of publication.
Achane has a perfect 14 receptions on 14 targets so far this season. Seven catches in each of the first two games is a great indicator that he will continue to be targeted, especially as a safety valve for Thompson in a tough road game against a good Seahawks defensive backfield.
In his two games this season, he has hit 76 receiving yards Week 1, followed by 69 last game. He is averaging 10.36 yards per reception this season. The low 28.5 yards bar is probably due to the quarterback situation, but nevertheless, Achane could hit this on just two passes headed his way.
After a slow start with just one Week 1 reception, Smith was much more involved against the Bills, with six receptions for 53 yards on seven targets.
The plus money here is a bonus for a simple trio of receptions from a tight end, who could roam to several areas of the field. Smith can line up in creative ways, and with Thompson likely leaning on guys who can get open and find yards after the catch, the veteran tight end could be one who turns a little into a lot.
The former Seattle linebacker returns to face his former team. Brooks has 10 tackles so far in 2024 and should be active and all over the field at his old stomping grounds.
While this is a tackles and assists prop, the odds indicate its very attainable with the -135 play. Back up Zach Charbonnet will get the majority of the reps for Seattle, and there’s a great chance he could be seeing plenty of Brooks on those runs.
While Wright wasn’t a world beater in Week 2, his 13.5 over/under is extremely low. Achane will get plenty of touches between his carries and receptions, but Wright’s speed and breakaway ability make this play a quality over quantity play.
Wright can hit this on a rush or two, and at less than 15 yards needed to hit this prop, he won’t need heavy volume. Regardless of a rough outing in his debut last game against Buffalo, Wright will need to spell Achane and help Miami move the chains.
You will rarely see Hill with plus money odds for receptions or yardage props, but the quarterback situation offers a chance at value.
Hill will be vital for Thompson to utilize and get the ball in his hands. In games in which Thompson has started, or played significant snaps, he hit Hill for seven receptions in a game in 2022 against the New York Jets. In the two games he started later in the season, he found Hill four times Week 17 against the Patriots and twice the following week against the Jets. In the playoff game that season against the Bills, Thompson found Hill seven times on 15 targets.
