Tye: The more community events, the merrier

2024-10-22 13:30:03

Well, I just don’t get it … Aspen was always a great party destination.

People came from all over the world to ski, ride, hike, raft, fish, shop local shops, apres ski and party (Tippler, Paragon, Little Nell deck).

The Aspen Deaf camp picnic, The Dirt Band on Aspen Highlands Mid Mountain, James Brown on Snowmass, Hard Rock concerts on Ajax (Aspen Mountain), Buffett/Podolak golf tournament, World Cup, Soupskol, Winterskol, Mardi Gras, Highlands closing day party and so much more…

I have been blessed to live and work in Aspen approaching 50 years.

One of the greatest attributes to Aspen in those many years is the Belly Up club.
Live music in a phenomenonal setting.

Now their proposal of 16,000 at Buttermilk concerts might be a bit too many, but the idea of more live entertainment on a mountainside is a great idea.

It seems luxury shopping has overtaken the real Aspen idea.

To me that idea is a recreating a party Town (Glen Frey).

What better way to attract the next generation of younger visitors (if they can afford the ever increasing cost to visit), and keep us older rockers happy: then more fun, innovative events.
We are becoming a sterile town of spoiled wannabes with money.

That needs to change.

Thank you, Micheal Goldberg and sons, for not giving up or in on your vision.

The JAS Aspen concerts are great, but competition is what makes businesses better.

Wake up and smell the coffee, we are starting to look like an old rest home town … bring on the outdoor concerts, X Games, Mac and Cheese fest, wine week and any other ideas to keep Aspen the greatest tourist town on snow from slowly dying of boredom … Getting older doesn’t mean stopping the fun!

Keep the party going or we will eventually be the Palm Springs of the mountains (that’s not a compliment).

Please remember to Vote yes on 200 and continue looking to evict Mark Hunt and his out of touch RH utopian vision.

This will definitely help too!
