AMES — Iowa State improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominant performance against Arkansas State.
The Cyclones beat the Red Wolves, 52-7, at Jack Trice Stadium, coming off their first of two bye weeks with a win. Iowa State held Arkansas State without a touchdown until the final five minutes of the game, when the Cyclones coaching staff went deep into the bench.
Iowa State will jump into Big 12 action next week, when the Cyclones travel to Houston.

Aiden Flora – a freshman walk-on – puts the exclamation point on this win, punching in an eight-yard touchdown run for his first career touchdown with 24 seconds remaining.

The Red Wolves ruined the Cyclones’ chance at a shutout, scoring a touchdown off a 27-yard pass from Timmy McClain to Hunter Summers. Iowa State will get the ball back with under five minutes left to play.

True freshman Dylan Lee scored his first career touchdown – off a handoff from fellow freshman Connor Moberly – in the fourth quarter. That makes six touchdowns and a field goal scored by the Cyclones, so far.

On second down, Connor Moberly threw a pass up the middle that Arkansas State’s Websley Etienne intercepted. He attempted a return, making it ten yards before Carson Hansen delivered a hit and knocked the ball from Etienne’s hands.

Just three plays into Arkansas State’s latest drive, Malik Verdon picked off the Red Wolves’ quarterback. Verdon grabbed the interceptionat the 46-yard line and returned it 38 yards to the 16-yard line.

Tyler Moore pulls in a 10-yard pass from Rocco Becht and battles into the end zone for another Iowa State touchdown. The Cyclones lead Arkansas State, 24-0, after nearly two full quarters of play.

Kyle Konrardy makes his first field goal of the game – a 31-yarder – to extend the Cyclones’ lead to 17 over Arkansas State.

Red Wolves’ quarterback Jaylen Raynor threw a pass intended for Corey Rucker into the waiting hands of Jeremiah Cooper instead. He returned it six yards, and Iowa State from the 35-yard line.

Rocco Becht scores on a quarterback keeper from the one-yard line, putting Iowa State up by two touchdowns. It took big gains from Abu Sama (17-yard rush) and Jayden Higgins (26-yard catch) and some yardage from Jaylon Jackson and Carson Hansen to set up the score.
