Gov. Beshear | “I fully endorse VP Harris”

(WSAZ) – After thanking President Biden for being a phenomenal president, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear put his full support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.

“I fully endorse VP Harris for the next President of the United States,” said Gov. Beshear during an interview on MSNBC on Monday morning. “The Vice President is smart and strong, which will make her a good president, but she is also kind and has empathy, which will make her a great president. The contrast between her and those running on the other side couldn’t be clearer.”

When asked about the potential of being on the democratic ticket as a Vice Presidential candidate, Beshear said, “I don’t know how that process is going to work. It’s flattering to be a part of it,” said Gov. Beshear. “I take it as a compliment though of what we have done in Kentucky. What we have done in Kentucky is what we need to do in this country. Move beyond the partisanship, the constant arguing. Get beyond neighbors yelling at other neighbors just because of the box they checked when they registered to vote. We need to turn the temperature down and recognize the most important things for our families, like a good job, healthcare, safe infrastructure, public safety, and public education.

“This country has gotten to a boiling point where we just have to move past it. We’ve got to move to something better. We’ve got to get back to being Americans and not members of a political party.”

“What we’ve got to do is have a message for everyone. What we see from former President Trump is division and trying to rally one group up against others. My faith tells me that’s wrong,” said Gov. Beshear. “We can’t let ourselves become so divided. Partisanship is now everywhere. From the car you drive to the beer you drink, you are supposed to pick a side, and we just can’t continue that and that is why I think that the Vice President can give a compelling message about being better. For me, that is certainly about my faith, and it’s about living my faith and caring about absolutely everyone. And, so, with this election, especially with the contrast of such a divisive figure like former President Trump who spews anger, we can create a contrast that hopefully not only wins this election but moves us past all this craziness we’ve been living in.”
