Game Recap: Football |

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Football team fell to the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday night, 13-7. Utah is now 4-3 overall this season and 1-3 in Big 12 play.

It is the first time since 2017 that the Utes have lost three straight games, also marking the first time since 2017 that Utah has started conference play 1-3.

The Utes finished the game with 267 yards of total offense, which included 199 passing yards and just 68 on the ground. It is only the eighth time since Andy Ludwig‘s return in 2019 (67 games) that Utah has had under 300 yards of offense.

Despite the score, Utah’s defense only allowed TCU to convert on four third downs (4-of-17), also finishing the game with six tackles for loss. The Horned Frogs entered the game averaging 35.3 points per game with the Utes holding them to just 13.

Utah struggled to find any momentum on offense throughout the game, scoring its first points of the contest with 6:12 to go in the third quarter to make it 13-7 in favor of TCU. Unfortunately, an interception and a turnover on downs late in the fourth quarter would keep Utah out of the end zone once more with TCU sealing the six-point win.

GAME LEADERS

Freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson was 17-of-33 passing (1 TD, 1 INT) for 199 yards, also adding 11 rushing yards. Through the air, senior Money Parks had a team-best 79 receiving yards that included a 71-yard touchdown while senior Micah Bernard led the Utes on the ground with 55 yards on 13 carries.

On defense, a trio of Utes had eight tackles each (Lander Barton, Alaka’i Gilman, Karene Reid) with Gilman also earning a tackle for loss. Safety Tao Johnson added seven stops and a pass breakup with defensive tackle Simote Pepa contributing a team-high 2.0 tackles for loss.

UP NEXT

Utah Football hits the road on Oct. 26 when they take on the Houston Cougars in Texas. The game time and TV network will be announced at a later time.
