SC-ST Sangharsh Samiti: Bharat Bandh 2024: SC-ST Samiti’s Peaceful Protest Against Supreme Court’s Reservation Verdict | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The SC and ST communities under a joint banner SC-ST Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti will extend their support to the call for Bharat Bandh on August 21 against the Supreme Court’s order on reservations. But the outfit said that it would be a peaceful protest.
The SC ruling on August 1 allowed sub-classification of SCs in the quota system to exclude the creamy layer from the SC/ST reservation.
On the other hand, the state unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will hold demonstrations in every district on Wednesday in support of the Bandh.
BSP state unit president Bhagwan Singh Baba said, “We will submit representations to the district collectors against the SC ruling. Our people will join demonstrations that will be organised by the social organisations in every district.” The outfit urged all business organisations to keep the markets closed during the Bandh. “However, all essential and emergency services such as medical, drinking water, educational institutions, public transport, rail services, fuel pumps, electricity, and banks will remain open,” the Samiti said.
A peace and harmony march will be taken out, starting from Ramniwas Bagh and passing through Chaura Rasta, Tripolia Bazaar, Badi Chaupar, Johari Bazaar, Sanganeri Gate, MI Road, and ending back at Ramniwas Bagh. “Later, a delegation from the committee will submit a memorandum to the district collector,” it added.
The Samiti said the Bandh was not against any class, community, society, or caste but solely against the SC’s decision. “The district and police administration are also expected to cooperate with the community’s democratic and peaceful protest rights,” it said.
“All organisations and members participating in the Bharat Bandh are urged to protest peacefully and ensure the Bandh’s success while maintaining peace in all situations,” it said.
