Georgia Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock endorsed Democratic Presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris during the opening night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention Monday.
Georgia could prove to be a pivotal state for a second presidential election in a row and polling out of the Peach State shows that Harris has closed the gap between where former Democratic presumptive nominee President Joe Biden stood against Republican nominee former President Donald Trump. Cook Political Report has the Vice President in a statistical tie against Trump in the state in its latest poll.
Warnock’s speech echoed ones he made at the pulpit while attacking the Republican nominee and Republican efforts to disenfranchise voters in battleground states, including Georgia.
“Behind the ‘Big Lie’ was an even bigger lie, it is the lie that this increasingly diverse American electorate does not get to determine the future of the country,” Warnock said. “The lie and the logic of January 6 is a sickness, it is a kind of cancer that metastasized into voter suppression laws all across the country.”
The Democratic National Committee convention is in Chicago through Thursday and Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday is scheduled to formally accept the party’s nomination for the 2024 Election.
