A political convention is a time for delegates across the United States and its territories to talk about the hope they have for parties future, and it is usually set to a playlist.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention came to order on Monday night, and some familiar faces from Nashville are expected to be on hand to being some musical entertainment to convention delegates, Jason Isbell and Mickey Guyton. Both singers may have come from a different backgrounds but both have made a name for themselves in Music City and country music.
Here’s a look at the two singers taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention tonight.
A four-time Grammy-nominated country performer, Guyton has made her way into country music at a young age and has been a trailblazer for Black women in the industry at the ACM Awards performance of “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” with labelmate Keith Urban’s accompaniment on piano.
The Arlington, Texas native, now calls Nashville home and has sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl and World Series, released half a dozen singles and collaborated with artists including BRELAND, Kane Brown and Maroon 5 since becoming a Capitol Records Nashville-signed artist.
Guyton confirmed on Monday that she would be performing at the national convention this year on Instagram.
“I’m so honored to be performing TONIGHT on the DNC. Y’all tune in! Any guesses as to what I’ll be singing??” Guyton wrote.
Guton took to the stage with her song, “All American”. Listen to it below.
Guyton has a plethora of songs under her belt, some of her latest works include an up-tempo track called, “Make It Me,” which followed “Scary Love” — a ballad dedicated to her 3-year-old son, Grayson — and March’s “Woman,” a song honoring women released in time for International Women’s Day, according to The Tennessean.

Isbell has made a name for himself as a musician in the country and Americana scenes over the years. Isbell’s notoriety spiked beyond the music scene though as he dipped his toes into acting in “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
The Grammy award winner was a member of Drive-By Truckers for six years, from 2001 to 2007 and currently works with the band The 400 Unit. Isbell has won six Grammy Awards.
Isbell, who was always a confirmed performer for the 2024 convention, is set to deliver a rendition of his 2015 hit, “Something More Than Free,” the title track off his Grammy-winning fifth studio album, according to Billboard.
