LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – A Lake Charles man has been arrested after being accused of breaking into an apartment and sexually assaulting a woman, according to the Lake Charles Police Department.
Lt. Brenda Treadway says police were dispatched to the apartment complex in the 100 block of Eddy Street after they received a call from the victim around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 18. The victim claimed that a man had broken in and sexually assaulted her but that she was able to escape and call for help.
She told officers her assailant was still in the apartment, Treadway said, which is where they found Zechariah Moore, 30, of Lake Charles. He allegedly broke in through the bathroom window.
Moore was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center for home invasion and second-degree attempted rape. No bond has been set for him at this time.
