(Gray News) – Stargazers will get a treat this weekend as they look to the sky – a full moon weekend.
According to NASA, the moon will appear full for about three days, from Friday evening to Monday morning.
Known as the “Buck Moon,” July’s full moon usually appears large and bright, often with a red or orange glow.
NASA reports the moon gets its name because “early summer is normally when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur.”
This full moon is also often called the “Thunder Moon” due to summer’s frequent thunderstorms.
The moon will be fullest Sunday morning at 6:17, according to NASA.
