RAJKOT: A Gujarati family on Tuesday was horrified to find a fried frog in their packet of salted wafers made by a leading snacks brand, prompting the authorities to launch an investigation. Jasmine Patel of Jamnagar lodged a complaint with civic authorities after he allegedly failed to get a proper response from Rajkot-based Balaji Wafers.
D B Parmar, food safety officer of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, said, “We are taking samples of wafers of the same batch from the distribution agency for laboratory tests.”
Jay Sachdev, marketing manager of Balaji Wafers, told TOI, “We maintain complete hygiene in our factory and it’s not possible to find a frog inside our snack packet. We also allow visitation of our plants to students every week. However, we will fully cooperate if JMC starts an investigation.”
