Last year, a total of 28 students scored 100 percentile out of which 11 were from MMR.

Among those who scored 100 percentile in MHT-CET from Mumbai is Parth Vaity, son of an autorickshaw driver from the city. A resident of Gaganpada slum in Mulund, Parth was always good in mathematics and science. MHT-CET was only a back-up for Parth who has already cleared JEE-Advanced, national level IIT entrance test with a good All-India rank with which he is confident of bagging a seat in IIT Bombay for Computer Science Engineering.

It wasn’t an easy road for Parth who knew his love for the subjects but was aware that it would be difficult to afford a good coaching institute for preparation of JEE. “But I am fortunate that at every point of struggle, I have eventually found a way out. I joined Allen coaching institute on 90 percent scholarship, after clearing their entrance test,” said Parth, adding that comparing his marks with fellow-classmates is what kept him motivated to do better on every exam.

Parth studied in Daffodils High Public School in Bhandup, an ICSE board school till Class 10. His mother Nita Vaity, who works as domestic help, said, “It is unlikely for a child of autorickshaw driver to study in ICSE school. But we were adamant on giving good education to our son and we believed that where there is a will, there is a way. We are thankful to God and many others who helped us in this journey.” Nita and her husband Viraj both have studied only till Class 7 and wanted their son to study high and aspire for a better life. Viraj, who drives an auto-rickshaw during the day, provides horse carriage rides near a garden in Mulund at night.

Among others with 100 percentile score from Mumbai is Sanmay Shah from Dadar. Son of a doctor couple, who also inspires him, Sanmay has already cleared NEET, national medical entrance test with 715/720 score and is confident of getting admission to a good medical college. His sister is also studying medicine. MHT-CET was only a back-up for Sanmay, who also appeared for JEE. Sanmay was ranked 3rd in the All-India merit list of ICSE Class 10 results, two years ago. Talking about his mantra for success, Sanmay said, “Being consistent combined with adequate sleep, nutritious food and meditation is important.”

Kandivali resident Vanshika Shah is also among those from Mumbai with 100 percentile in CET. Determined to pursue engineering for undergraduate education, Vanshika appeared for JEE too. While she was short-listed for Advanced, after clearing JEE-Main, she said: “My score in Advanced is not as impressive to get a good IIT. So now I will focus on getting a good engineering college through JEE-Main or MHT-CET score,” said Vanshika, who hopes to study computer science engineering.

A total of 7,25,052 candidates applied for the MHT-CET exam including from PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) groups out of which 6,27,377 appeared for the exam. This examination was conducted at 159 centres out of which 143 centres were within Maharashtra and 16 centres were outside the state.

A total of 4,10,377 students registered for the PCM group out of which 3,79,800 appeared for the exam conducted from May 2 to May 16. This included 2,37,867 boys and 1,41,918 girls and 15 others. For PCB group, a total of 3,14,675 students registered and 2,95,577 appeared for the exam conducted from April 22 to 30. This included 1,68,067 girls, 1,27,500 boys and 14 others.

Soon after the MHT-CET result was declared, the website was down and many were not able to access their result till late.

All those who appeared for the exam are eligible to participate in the Common Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by the CET Cell for admission to technical undergraduate (UG) courses such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture among others. The CET Cell will declare the CAP schedule within a few days.
