Bombay HC: Court Approves ‘Hamare Baarah’ Film with Muted Scenes | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Weeks after its “uncensored” trailer sparked a controversy over portrayal of lives of married Muslim women, Bombay HC on Wednesday cleared Annu Kapoor-starrer ‘Hamare Baarah’ with its producers agreeing to make some changes before its release in cinemas Friday. On Tuesday, the judges had said they had seen the film and that it sends out a social message for women empowerment.

The changes include display of two disclaimers regarding Sharia law — in English and Hindi — for 12 seconds each, which senior advocate Rahul Narichania for the producers said “will be more than sufficient for anyone to read”.Two dialogues, three words in a dialogue, and an Arabic recitation of a Quranic verse at the start of the film will also be muted.
