The Saints’ front four and the rest of the defense dominated 49ers quarterback Blake Purdy as he went two for six for 11 yards and was sacked once by defensive end Carl Granderson. Newcomer Chase Young was in the 49ers’ backfield throughout the first quarter.
Rookie Spencer Rattler replaced Carr in the second quarter and gave up a fumble on a sack.
