A high-profile crossover boxing match is set for Saturday as social media influencer Jake Paul takes on former UFC fighter Mike Perry in an eight-round main event. Their showdown tops the main card (9 p.m. ET) from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. This matchup takes the place of the originally scheduled showdown between Paul and Mike Tyson, which was postponed because Tyson suffered a medical concern. While that fight has been rescheduled for November, Paul is remaining active by taking on Perry, a noted brawler who is 5-0 in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Perry previously served as the backup fighter for Paul’s bout against Tommy Fury.
Paul is a -360 favorite (risk $360 to win $100), while Perry is priced at +280 in the latest boxing odds for Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry. The over/under for total rounds completed is 7.5. Before locking in any Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry picks, make sure you check out the boxing predictions and betting advice from SportsLine combat sports expert Brandon Wise.
Wise, who is the combat sports editor for CBS Sports, is an experienced and successful boxing analyst. His SportsLine record has been stellar over the past four years and, in March, he called the win in Round 1 for Paul (+200) against journeyman pro Ryan Bourland and also advised SportsLine members to take the Under 1.5 rounds (+120). Anyone who has followed Wise’s combat sports picks has seen massive returns.
Now, with Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry on deck, Wise has studied the matchup from all angles and released a money-line pick and method-of-victory prop. You can only see his picks and analysis at SportsLine.
Critics of Paul’s crossover opponents have pointed out that the former UFC stars he faced in the boxing ring have been generally undersized and in the twilight of their careers. Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz were both pushing 40 when they faced Paul, while former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was 47 when he squared off with Paul in 2022. Those fighters also competed at weight classes below the cruiserweight limit (200 pounds) that Paul prefers in the boxing ring.
Although Perry, like Ben Askren and Woodley, competed at welterweight (170 pounds) in the UFC, he has fought comfortably at 185 pounds in BKFC. Although he’s still giving up a size advantage Saturday, Perry has consistently stated that he isn’t worried about it and the 32-year-old reminded the media this week that he is hitting his physical peak, unlike Paul’s previous foes.
“I’m just now reaching my prime,” Perry said. “I’m just now getting to where I’ve been doing my best. I learned through the UFC, which was a tough place to learn. Since learning, now I’m having the success brawling these people.” See who to pick here.
Wise likes the under 7.5 rounds and also has confident money-line and prop picks for Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry. He’s only sharing his picks and analysis at SportsLine.
