NEW DELHI: Prince of Wales, William has taken a firm stance regarding his relationship with his brother, Prince Harry.
The brothers’ feud which started in 2020 has intensified since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relinquished their royal duties and made several allegations against the royal family, further widening the rift between the two sides.
Despite earlier reports suggesting that Prince William had imposed a “ban” on Prince Harry’s return to the royal fold, the Prince of Wales has consistently demonstrated his strong character and resolve.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond discussed Prince William’s unwavering nature, stating, “I think his broken childhood made him tough and resolute.
He now has the reputation of being stubborn and, once his mind is made up, he sticks to his decision.” Bond further emphasized that the Prince of Wales “commands respect,” and his views hold “considerable sway.” She added, “Obviously, as heir to the throne, his word carries a lot of weight in the family and I think it’s true that he has been prepared to take a tough stand on a number of issues, including [Princes] Andrew and Harry.”
In his approach to dealing with Prince Harry, Prince William appears to have adopted a disciplinarian method reminiscent of Prince Philip’s. An insider revealed, “There is a sense that William has stepped into the Prince Philip role. Philip ruled the family with a rod of iron and you saw when he died that discipline collapsed. Now William is calling the shots when it comes to family discipline.”
As a result of the alleged ban, Prince Harry is reportedly “heartbroken” and “confused” about the royal family’s distant treatment of him and his wife, Meghan Markle. “He’s heartbroken and confused by the way they’ve cut him off and seemingly haven’t given it another thought,” shared the insider.
The Duke was also said to be “emotional” and “upset” upon seeing Kate Middleton at the Sovereign’s birthday ceremony in June, as he had been concerned about her health and would have loved to be there to support her on what must have been a difficult day.
