The WNBA season is about to have a month-long pause as the 2024 Summer Olympics is set to start next week. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever (11-14) and the Dallas Wings (5-19) suit up on Wednesday in their last game before restarting in August. Indiana has held two of its previous four opponents to under 80 points. Meanwhile, the Dallas defense has been inconsistent, allowing 100-plus in two of the past three outings.
Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET at College Park Center in Dallas. The Fever are 4.5-point favorites in the latest Fever vs. Wings odds, while the over/under for total points is 179. Led by Clark, the Fever have a well-rounded offensive unit. They can attack from multiple fronts and it makes things tough for defenses. They are fifth in the league in points per game (81.3), third in 3-point percentage (44.5) and sixth in 3-pointers made (209). Indiana also has a forceful frontcourt, ranking fifth in blocks per game (4.6).
Forward Aliyah Boston can score around the rim with ease and is very effective as a rebounder. The South Carolina product leads the team in rebounds (8.8) and blocks (1.4) with 13.7 points per game. In her last outing, Boston had 17 points and 16 boards. Forward NaLyssa Smith also impacts the game in the lane. She logs 11.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. On July 12, Smith had 14 points and 10 rebounds. See which team to pick here.
Dallas has dealt with a lot of injuries to start the season but has gotten some reinforcements lately. Guard Odyssey Sims is a player who likes to get downhill to score or attract defenders to find an open teammate. In eight games, the Baylor product averages 16.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. In her last outing, Sims finished with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Center Teaira McCowan provides this group with a lengthy and disruptive force in the frontcourt. McCowan has a nice touch around the rim while using her size (6’7) to pile up boards. The 27-year-old logs 11.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and one block per game. On July 10 versus the Phoenix Mercury, she had 15 points and 10 boards. See which team to pick here.
Wetzel is leaning Over on the point total, and he has locked in two additional Fever vs. Wings picks — one on the spread and one must-see Caitlin Clark prop. You can only see his picks and analysis at SportsLine.
