Tito Jackson, a founding member of The Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, has died, per Entertainment Tonight. He was 70.
According to the outlet, Jackson died on Sunday (September 15) following an apparent heart attack.
Prior to his death, Tito was on tour with his brothers Jackie Jackson and Marlon Jackson as The Jacksons. The group recently performed in Surrey, England on September 8 and had upcoming shows in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tito was in Munich, Germany with The Jacksons earlier this week when they “visited the beautiful memorial dedicated to our beloved brother, Michael Jackson.”
“We’re deeply grateful for this special place that honors not only his memory but also our shared legacy. Thank you for keeping his spirit alive,” Tito wrote on social media.
The musician was a founding member of The Jackson 5 with Michael, Jackie, Jermaine Jackson, Marlon, and later Randy Jackson. The iconic family music group produced several hits including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There” during the 1970s. The Jackson 5 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tito later went solo, dropping the 2016 album Tito Time and 2021’s Under Your Spell.
He is survived by his three sons, Taj, TJ, and Taryll.
Rest in peace, Tito Jackson.
