Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Victoria Jackson announced that she was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer this week and has less than 3 years left to live.
In an Instagram video, part of a series called “Is the cancer back?”, the comedian and actor confirmed that the cancer has returned.
“Update on the cancer: they cannot operate and cut out the marble in my chest that is laying on my windpipe and eventually would suffocate me to death,” she says with a small chuckle.
Jackson said she will be receiving a “magic pill” that will hopefully shrink the tumor. She looked the pill up on Google and it said people who take it have “32.6 months to live,” while the people who took the placebo had 28 months to live, she said.
“I’ve had a fantastic life,” she said, adding that she would like to see her grandson, Jimmy, be born in October, and to see her daughter become a mother.
“You know, we’re all dying but when you kinda see in print, you have 32.6 months, it makes you think, ya know? But I wouldn’t change anything.”
Jackson was a cast mate on “SNL” from 1986 to 1992, where she also often appeared on the “Weekend Update” segment. In one of her most famous appearances, Jackson did a headstand in American flag underwear while sharing her review for 1987 movie “Amerika.”
“As a tribute to my great country that allows me the freedom to express myself anyway I’d like, I’d like to say the film was boring at times, but I liked the courtroom scene, and the pledge of allegiance scene and I think Kris Kristofferson is cute,” she said to laughter from the audience. She ended the segment with a quick rendition of “America the beautiful” and a split.
Jackson has become a conservative and religious activist in recent years, often sharing Bible scripture and praising former President Donald Trump on social media.
She has said she’s been “blacklisted” in Hollywood for her views, which include calling former President Barack Obama an “islamic jihadist” and criticizing the show “Glee” for showing a kiss between two men, the The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
“The only people you can make fun of is blondes — dumb blonde jokes,” she said to the outlet in 2022. “You can’t make fun of Muslims, or you die.”
In the caption to the video announcing her diagnosis, she wrote: “I have 34.8 months to live if I don’t get hit by a meteor, shot by a MAGA hater, get Covid again or WWIII breaks out.”
