Miranda Lambert Pauses Montana Show to Stop a Fight

2024-07-17 16:15:02

Miranda Lambert concerts are meant for dancing and drinking — not fighting. During a show at Montana’s Under the Big Sky Festival over the weekend, Lambert paused her headlining set to call out fans who seemed to be in a fight and not paying attention.

“I can see your head is not turned the right way which is this way,” she said, while pointing at herself. “If you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else. If you came to sing some country music, drink some beer, and raise some hell, we’re doing that tonight.”

“Are we clear? Are we done with our drama yet?” she asked, adding, “Fighting is not OK. And it’s always the girls. We get crazy! Cheers, everybody. I’m gonna wait it out.”

Lambert was performing at the Montana festival over the weekend, which she co-headlined with Billy Strings and Turnpike Troubadours. Brothers Osborne, Mt. Joy, Tanya Tooker, and Sierra Ferrell also performed.

Lambert seems to notice fights in her show’s crowds often. During a show in late June, she paused a fight while she played her ballad, “Tin Man.”

“Are y’all fightin’? During this song? Because I will come down there and you don’t want that. We’re not doing that today,” Lambert told the crowd. “It’s always the girls, we always get riled up and start punching each other. Dear police, can we just go ahead and remove them, that’d be great. Thank you very much.”

Several days later, Lambert shared a video on Instagram joking about when she’s OK with her fans getting into fights. “If you want to fight at my shows, I’m all about it. Give ’em hell,” she said on July 2. “I’ve got five songs for you: ‘Fastest Girl in Town,’ ‘Kerosene,’ ‘Little Red Wagon,’ ‘Wranglers,’ ‘Gun Powder & Lead.’ Don’t do it during ‘Tin Man.’ That’s not the time.”

“I know you can hear the shit-talking ’cause it’s a ballad, but that’s not the time,” she added. “So pick your times.”

Lambert’s song “Ain’t in Kansas Anymore” is set to be featured in the upcoming film, Twisters. The soundtrack song followers her singles “Dammit Randy” and “Wranglers,” which dropped in June and May, respectively. Her latest album, Palomino, arrived in 2022.
