Six Things That Stood Out for the Titans in Sunday’s Loss to the Jets

NASHVILLE – The Titans lost 24-17 to the New York Jets on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

Here’s a look at six things that stood out from the contest.

One week after his three-turnover game in Chicago, which included a bad interception late, quarterback Will Levis made another costly blunder in this one. It unfortunately wiped away some of the good things Levis did in the contest. Television cameras showed Coach Brian Callahan ripping Levis after a costly fumble in the first half, when he carelessly pitched the ball back inside the Jets 10 and it was recovered for a fumble. “I think the camera caught it pretty clear, if I had to guess,” Callahan responded when asked what he said to Levis. “Yeah, I was upset. It was dumb. It was the same exact thing he did last week, and he cost us points in the red zone. He’s a grown up, and he knows better. I was really irritated that he cost us three points in a game when we needed it.” Levis left the stadium dejected, and he kicked himself for his mistake near the goal line. “I am not going to point to one play as to why we lost the game,” Levis said. “But obviously I can look internally as to what I can do better. It’s something I wanted to clean up that didn’t get done this week. Disappointing for sure, and I’ll work my tail off to be better for my team this week.”

Titans receiver Calvin Ridley made a big impact from the get-go. Ridley scored on a 10-yard run early after taking a handoff from Levis and racing to the corner of the end zone. It came just a few plays after Ridley turned on the jets vs the Jets, and got a first down on a 15-yard gainer on third down. Later in the contest, Ridley made a spectacular catch on a deep ball from Levis, as he caught the ball in between two defenders for a 40-yard touchdown catch. It was all part of a four-catch, 77-yard, two-touchdown day for Ridley, although he was hardly in the mood to celebrate. “We lost, man,” Ridley said after the game. “I don’t want to lose, I want to win the game and go home and chill, and be happy. But we have to go back to work and figure it out. I think we’re getting close, though. I’m upset, but I think we’re getting close.”
