Corvallis, ORE. — For the first time since 2018 and for the first time in the Dan Lanning era, Oregon football was victorious in Corvallis.
The 9th ranked Ducks picked up a 49-14 victory at Reser Stadium behind a staunch second half performance that the Beavers could not recover from. Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 291 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. The Oregon offensive line had their best performance of the season; after allowing seven sacks through the first two games, the Ducks did not allow a sack against the Beavers.
Oregon’s offense scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the game. Oregon State was able to respond with a pair of touchdown runs from Anthony Hankerson in the first half that left Oregon with a 22-14 halftime lead. OSU kept it a close game in the first half by using the clock to their advantage. The Beavers controlled the time of possession in the first half, having the ball for over 21 minutes.
But once the second half started, Oregon played with a renewed energy that Oregon State couldn’t match. The Ducks limited the Beavers to 91 yards of total offense and zero points in the second half. The 35-point win was Oregon’s largest margin of victory over Oregon State since 2018, when Oregon won 55-15.
Oregon now leads the overall rivalry vs. Oregon State 69-49-10.
The Ducks are on a bye week and return to play on the road at UCLA on September 28th. Oregon State returns to Reser Stadium for a home game vs. Purdue on September 21st.
